And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.
- Matthew 1:19
When Joseph discovered Mary was pregnant, he faced a heart-wrenching decision. According to the law, he had every right to publicly expose her, which would have brought shame and possibly even death. But Joseph chose a different path - one of quiet mercy and protection. This wasn't weakness; it was kingdom righteousness in action. In our daily lives, we often find ourselves in Joseph's position. Someone hurts us, betrays our trust, or fails to meet our expectations. Our natural instinct might be to expose their faults, seek revenge, or at least make sure others know what they did to us. But Joseph shows us a better way. True righteousness isn't about being technically correct or legally justified. It's about reflecting God's heart of compassion. When we choose mercy over vengeance, we demonstrate that we belong to a different kingdom - one where love triumphs over law, where protection matters more than being proven right. This doesn't mean we ignore wrongdoing or fail to address sin. Rather, it means our motivation shifts from self-protection to restoration. We seek to heal rather than harm, to build up rather than tear down. This kind of righteousness can only come from a heart that has been transformed by God's own mercy toward us.
Explore & examine the areas of your life that God needs to come under the truth. Take a moment to commit & surrender these areas in prayer.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
